Hi, I'm Samantha!

I never set out to be a professional photographer. Taking pictures was something I always loved growing up and used as a stress reliever/creative outlet throughout college and beyond. In 2015, I quit my job at an art gallery in downtown San Francisco to move to the middle of nowhere in Texas so I could finally live with my fighter pilot husband. I found myself jobless, bored and depressed so I turned to my camera and began my long and slow journey towards professional photography.

When I first started out, I only took pictures for me and my husband; pictures of us, of our travels and of our crazy life. We moved from Texas to California and then on to Japan in the spring of 2018. Shortly after we got to Japan my husband went on his first deployment and that feeling I had in Texas returned... Jobless, bored and depressed I decided to turn to my camera once more and made photography my official job. Today I feel so lucky that I get to call it my job and use it to serve others and see the world. Pictures are one of those few things we can invest in that can enrich our life and bring us joy for years to come. It’s a gift to be able to capture memories and hold on to them forever.

Outside of taking pictures, I’m mostly known for falling asleep before 9pm, being a homebody, cooking vegan meals and going on walks through our neighborhood. I’m obsessed with my husband, The Office, cats and travelling. I love deep conversations, learning about myself and others and going for walks with friends.

Who I serve - Adventurous and in-love couples and families.

Where I serve - All of Japan as well as other parts of Asia, Guam, Hawaii and California.

My approach - My pictures with my husband are among my most prized possessions and I pride myself on taking pictures that make you feel the same way. I’m not into prom posing or awkward photos, in fact, I prefer you pretend I’m not there. I’ll direct you and guide you but mostly I am there to capture your love and connections with one another in the most accurate way possible. All you have to do is relax and be yourself.

And just in case you’re dying to hear more, here are a few things you might not know about me:

1. I love going to National Parks with my husband. We have visited 9 together and hope to see many more. My favorite is Yosemite!

2. When I was a kid I wanted to be a pastry chef when I grew up and I used to film myself baking and pretend I was the star of a food network show.

3. My favorite place in the world is Hawaii and I want to buy a house there someday.

4. I planned my wedding in 2 weeks! (You do what you have to do with the military) It was the craziest two weeks of my life though.

5. I’m an INTJ and Enneagram type 5 and I love learning about personality types.
